  3. I'm not potty training right now but I will be again in the future since I'm expecting a baby. What worked for my son was using Cheerios as targets.

  7. I am not potty training right now, but my sister is. When I started my daughter potty training, I used a mini-Elmo potty seat, which we kept in the living room, since she spent the most time there. I gradually moved it closer and closer to the bathroom, and eventually we worked our way up to a Dora seat that went right on top of the toilet. This really helped me be successful with her potty training!

  13. Let me try that comment again lol.......what worked for both my grown daughter and my grandson of whom I kept daily as his mom and dad worked, was to keep a story book by the potty and I would just read a few paragraphs to him and show him the pictures. When he had success at potty time, we put a happy sticker balloon on a picture I drew of him with lots of strings floating to the sky but only added balloon stickers with success. Once he had six full balloon stickers, I would give him a real balloon full of air to play with. It was fun and something for him to look forward too and be encouraged by. We also put a happy face sticker on each real balloon once he received it. I think reading them a story as they potty takes away the stress of them thinking they have to make results and let's them get there mind on the story and leaves them curious as to the next part of the story to be for the next potty time. Patience is a virtue...

  16. My biggest advice is to be patient. Every kid is different. Different things work with different kids. I read so many different books and articles giving tips. Don't give up. You'll get there eventually. Just keep trying! Julie smartsavvymama@gmail.com

  17. We put a basket of books right next to the potty chair. When trying to get him to sit on the potty....he always looked forward to me reading stories to him. He loved to sit on it!

  20. What I found to work when potty training my son was being positive and lots of encouragement. My hubby would allow our son to follow him, this helped a lot. Support from both parents very important :)
