The Schrade Tactical Survival Pen. Really? Yes - really. Look, no one's saying go into the woods with this and a tarp and you'll end up starting a new civilization. What IS cool about it is that it's a pen you can use and keep on you every day, and then if a situation came up where you needed the pen, the ferro rod, or the whistle - well there you have it. Very cool little product. Price point is around $45. Well within reason for a high quality writing tool. Hey and a regular pen isnt going to help you start a fire if you need water purified or provide you with a whistle to call for help! I do appreciate the simplicity of the Ferro rod in particular! They are cheap to replace (I am ordering refills for about $6 each) but the main thing is the rod and striker are big enough to be effective, but still small enough to be made into a pen If you can strike a match, you can use a ferro rod!
